bELOved

We are facing a change: „the beginning is the end and the end is the beginning, everything is connected“. This is a quote from the series Dark, which represents well the current pandemic and our consum-erism. We, the global society, are affected or fellow riders of the devil‘s machinery: the fashion industry, urged to change perspective and look for alternatives. For our sake and for the sake of nature. My brand bELOved is an alternative to the current fashion industry. There should be a circular and no longer linear economy, made of 100% natural and therefore compostable materials.

The global input of plastic waste into the oceans is estimated from 4.8 to 12.7 million tons per year. This is equivalent to one truckload per minute. Of this, 46% of our marine debris is made up of fishing nets or the material Econyl, which is made from collected marine debris and is recyclable. I also worked with old sails and fishing nets, which can be recycled into Econyl. Society, including us designers, are looking for new ideas, but often forget about our re-sources, which are right under our noses. We and nature are enveloped in plastic waste. Why not free nature from it?

My colorcard was inspired from the marine underwater world. Natural, pastel and purist colors to match the mood of the items well. For the shape I drew my inspiration from diving suits (seams, fins, flowing/sliding feel), trench coat, blazer, suit pants & shirt. I de-veloped my patterns from fishing nets a plaid pattern and my circular fashion logo.
